Quality Reliability Support
About Oxford University Press
For over 500 years, Oxford University Press (OUP), a department of Oxford University,
has demonstrated its commitment to furthering the University's objective of excellence
in research, scholarship and education by publishing worldwide. Oxford University
Press is the world's largest university press publishing over 4000 new titles
each year and has a presence in over fifty countries world-wide. The Press is
an integral part of the University of Oxford. It is incorporated by royal charter,
and governed under the University Statutes by the Delegates of the Press, who
are appointed from the academic staff of the University. Oxford University Press
has very specific criteria for the types of books that may be published, which
necessitate careful monitoring of content and quality.
Since 1957 OUP Japan has had a branch office in Tokyo and has worked in partnership
with teaching professionals in Japan to provide educational support services that
are second to none. Our bilingual team of representatives and consultants advise
teachers on the suitability of all Oxford materials. We are proud to work with
the finest authors and educators and by sponsoring speakers to attend conferences
and by arranging teacher-training workshops, we bring authors and teachers together
to share theories and ideas.
English Language Teaching (ELT) Department
The Press's authority with regard to the English language is unrivaled, and is
maintained by ongoing investment in language research and new technology. It is
our commitment to the quality of our books that has made us the world's leading
publisher of ELT materials. OUP publishes textbooks, reference works, and other
materials for learners and teachers of English as a second language. With two
publishing centers in Oxford and New York, the Press produces courses in British
and American English for everyone from elementary schoolchildren to business executives.
Most courses are accompanied by ancillary materials such as workbooks, tests,
cassettes, flashcards, and videos, all designed to make the learning of English
a more satisfying experience. This is supported by a dedicated marketing network
of offices and representatives around the world.
Academic & General (A&G) Department
Oxford University Press (OUP) has become familiar to millions through a diverse
publishing program that includes scholarly works in all academic disciplines,
bibles, music, school and college textbooks, children's books, business books,
dictionaries and reference books, as well as materials for English language teaching.
We also publish a number of books on Japan and Japanese culture as well as books
by Japanese authors.
Most of these publications are produced by the two major publishing centers, in
Oxford and New York, but there are additional publishing programs in many countries
around the world, including Australia, Canada, China, India, Kenya, Malaysia,
Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, and Spain. In Japan, all publishing other than
ELT materials is represented and supported by the A&G Department. |
