Availability, Ordering and Prices

Q. How do I request inspection copies or catalogs online?
A. On the menu bar you'll see the "Online Catalog" button. Click on that button and follow the instructions.

Q. Are all the items listed in the online catalog currently in stock?
A. This catalog lists titles stocked in Japan unless otherwise stated. However, Oxford University Press is a worldwide publisher and with increasing accessibility to global information, teachers may wish to order titles published by the Press that are not stocked in Japan. It is possible to order these non-stock titles but we regret that such an order will take up to eight weeks to fulfill. Also, we are unable to accept returns on these books. Please contact us at elt.japan@oup.com for more information on stock availability and ordering non-stock items.

Q. I know you carry this item, but I couldn't find it on your site. How can I get more information?
A. Oxford University Press is the world's largest university press, publishing over 4,000 new titles a year. We stock only a portion of our global list here in Japan, but it is possible to get information on most OUP titles through our home site in the UK, www.oup.com . Please contact us at elt.japan@oup.com with any OUP-related questions that cannot be answered online or for more information on stock availability and ordering non-stock items.

Q. Can I purchase OUP materials online through this website?
A. No, As an importer and wholesaler, Oxford University Press Japan does not sell books through direct retail. Please order through your usual local bookseller, or anywhere that foreign books are sold. Should you need help finding a bookseller in your area please visit the How to Buy section of this website or send an e-mail inquiry to elt.japan@oup.com.

Technical Questions

Q. Which web browser should I use to view the site?
A. While most any web browser should be fine, we recommend Netscape or Internet Explorer 4.0 or above.

Q. Your web pages are wider than my computer screen. How can I see the full width of the pages without scrolling left to right?
A. Most current computers are fully capable of using a higher resolution than the windows default (640x480). If you raise your display resolution to 800x600 1024x768 this should give you ample space to display most any site on the Internet without having to scroll horizontally.

Adjusting a monitor's resolution

For Windows 98:
1. From the Start menu, click Settings and then Control Panel.
2. Double-click Display.
3. Click the Settings tab.
4. Select the monitor that you want to change if you have more than one monitor.
5. Move the Screen Area slider from left to right to set the desired resolution or screen size.
6. Click Apply to view the new resolution.
7. Click OK to accept the changes.

For a Mac:
1. Open the Control Strip by clicking its end.
2. Click the TV icon with a checkerboard pattern.
3. Select from the choices offered: Color LCD, 640 by 480, 800 by 600, and 1024 by 768. Not all Macs offer all choices.
4. Your screen resolution will change instantly.
5. Close the Control Strip.

Q. To order inspection copies, does my browser need to be set to "accept cookies"?
A. No, Cookies do not have to be enabled to order inspection copies or for any other area of the site. Cookies will allow our site to automatically recognize you when you return, but if you don't use them it will simply ask you to login again before making more requests.

Q. Do I need Flash Player or any other special software to view your site?
A. Although Flash is used on the top page, it's not required for browsing or for requesting samples. Some downloads do require that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free from Adobe Systems. You also need a Real Player in order to enjoy the sample audio files. Please click here to download the player if you have not installed it yet.
